This is looking out across the Nile to the Valley of the Dead across from Luxor. Taken from the balcony of my room in the luxurious and highly recommended (by me!) New Pola Hotel. The previous day it was so hazy I didn't realize there was this rocky mesa there.
The housekeeping staff at the New Pola Hotel are clearly frustrated topiarists! I came back one morning to find this beautifully arranged blanket on my bed. I'm not sure if it's supposed to represent a swan or a spitting cobra! Presumably the former!
